Concept I:

What I wanted to focus on in this concept was the human body. I wanted to take this project as an opportunity to polish my sculpting and surfacing skills by carefully crafting a person through many stages of some sort of event(s). This would include sculpting, painting (texturing), modelling, hair simulation/ grooming, etc. and hopefully by the end having it look as realistic as possible, while also telling a story.

Idea I:

A short sequence of scenes that tells a story of somebody who is tragically in some sort of accident (potentially a car crash), and ends up in the hospital. Unfortunately this person ends up losing an appendage(s) - maybe their leg(s) for example. However this does not stop this person as they go on to become a body builder to show off body positivity instead of focusing on the disability of having a lost limb.

The first shot would be potentially be either the person maybe getting ready to leave their home or straight to the car crash to decrease the work load, then a shot of them in the hospital, and then finally a shot of them being the body builder.

Software I would potentially use: Maya, ZBrush, Substance Painter, Nuke, Houdini(?)

Idea II:

A sequence showing a person aging from child to old person. Not sure exactly how this would be showcased.

Idea III:

Note:

I never really touched zBrush before this weekend ( I have used mudbox a little ) so I went ahead and did a sculpt of the head of my favorite musical artist AURORA to see how the software worked and what kind of challenge this would be for me. The sculpt is below.

Concept II:

The second Idea that I am considering is doing some sort of scene in 3D, but instead of texturing everything normally, instead I would hand oil paint every texture in the scene. This process would be accomplished by creating the models of the scene and then creating UV's for them. I would then take the UV's out of the software and print them out, and then paint over them with oil paint. Then I would scan them back into the software and use those painted textures as the textures for the scene.

I was thinking about maybe using artists paintings (probably older) as inspiration for what I would do for my scene. The reason I would like to do this concept is because I think it would be a good way to show off my technical abilities with the software but also including my other artistic passions into my digital artwork.

Proof of concept:

Two cubes (and a smoothed cube) with hand painted textures.
